What MediCalc Pro is

MediCalc Pro is a free online reference resource providing medical calculators, clinical scoring tools, and drug dosing references. Our tools are designed to support, not replace, clinical judgement. They are reference aids for qualified healthcare professionals and informed patients.

Every tool on this site has published, peer-reviewed methodology behind it. We aim to implement validated equations accurately. However, calculators can contain errors, reference ranges vary between institutions, and medical practice evolves. Always verify critical calculations independently.

This is the most important section of these terms.

  • Our calculators are reference tools, not diagnostic instruments. A result from a calculator does not constitute a clinical diagnosis.
  • All results must be interpreted by a qualified healthcare professional in the context of the full clinical picture, patient history, examination findings, and current guidelines.
  • Reference ranges, dosing thresholds, and management recommendations on this site reflect general guidelines and may not apply to every patient or clinical setting. Always consult your local formulary, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Calculators involving drug dosing (creatinine clearance, pediatric dose, IV drip rate) provide estimates. Drug prescribing and administration must follow institutional protocols and current prescribing information.
  • Mental health screening tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, PSS-10) are screening aids, not diagnostic tests. A positive screen requires clinical assessment by a qualified mental health professional.
  • We are not responsible for clinical decisions made on the basis of results from this site.

The underlying validated clinical equations and scoring systems (GCS, APACHE II, PHQ-9, etc.) belong to their respective developers and are used under applicable licences or fair use for reference purposes.

The Maslach Burnout Inventory is a licensed instrument. Our burnout assessment tool is inspired by its framework for educational purposes and is not the official MBI. The official MBI is available from Mind Garden.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MediCalc Pro and its operators are not liable for any loss, harm, or damage arising from use of or reliance on this site. This includes clinical decisions made with reference to our tools, errors or omissions in calculator outputs, and availability or uptime of the service.

We link to external resources including clinical guidelines, drug references, and official organisations. We don't control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which MediCalc Pro is registered. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
